Viva Hb Deluxe Automatic Restoration.

Postby cmitchell » Mon Jun 08, 2020 5:55 pm

Hi everyone I'm Chris
I'm a 17yo from Ireland restoring a HB Viva 4door Deluxe Automatic that my dad used to drive when he worked in London he brought it back with him to Ireland when he moved here and it has been lying up ever since.
She is pretty rusty (by pretty I mean I had to rebuild the whole floor).
This is my google drive folder with the images so far of my restoration they are not completely up to date but they are the clearest ones I have.
Hope you enjoy following along the journey as I will be posting updates here fairly often.

(dont tell me im wasting my time i have heard it from pretty much everyone i know so save it)

That's a brave restoration, panels are getting rare for these as there's been little reproduced, sills & inner wing sections are all that's been done for these from memory, so you will probably have to be creative as some of us have had to, post up whatever obstacles you come across & I'm sure you'll get a reply pointing you in the right direction, carry on the good work

When you get round to the engine which is prob 1600cc - the Club has a short engine auto slant 4 which looks in reasonable condition if you need it - not sure if its 1600 or 1800 but the crank interface to auto box is correct. For a young enthusiast member we could do it for cost of delivery.

Wow that's seriously kind of you , thank you!!
I believe Euro Pallet are the one of the better companies for delivering to Ireland but I'll leave it up to you to choose the company I can Paypal the money to the club or yourself if that suits.

Bought my first HB when I was 18, Starmist Blue SL. H reg, only 7 years old but had already had its rusty front wings filled and sprayed....then 12 months later found out about the 2.0 GT version....it was rare even then...mostly seen for sale in motoring news.....the good old days!..
