Hi, I need new battery for my HA van. The current battery has NO markings whatsoever on it. It has a 1256 engine, alternator and Bosch distributor. Does anyone know what amp hour etc battery I need to buy. Is there a battery number (eg my other preservation project takes 631, I just go to my supplier and ask for 631). Thanks.

Standard battery is an 038 I believe

Thank you. Took old one to local battery specialist today and he sold me a 538 which is in the 038 family.

Hello all,
This specific enquiry related to a HA van. Is the same 038 the correct battery for a 1978 1256.

038 is standard for a 1256 or an 015 is heavy duty
